For the drive I tuned into Scoops Radio using my phone to listen to the perfect music mix. While I was listening an advertisement for The Coopers Inn in Shelburne came on, it sounded wounderful.

An idea struck me suddenly, this is how I was going make it up to Debbie, I would take on a mini vacation at The Coopers Inn!

I was pleased my sudden stroke of genius.

It was a win-win situation, I get out of the doghouse with Debbie and I get some much-needed relaxation time at The Coopers Inn.

The thought of relaxing made me remember I had promised to take my mom to her appointment at Julie Skaling Physiotherapy Clinic. I pulled out my cell-phone and gave her a quick call.

She informed me her appointment was in an hour so I immediately went to pick her up.

“Hello darling,” mom said, “you look troubled, what’s wrong?”

I forgot how clearly mom could read my face, so I told her the whole story of my fight with Debbie.

To my horror, she laughed.

“What’s so funny?” I asked, a little hurt by her lack of sympathy.

“These things happen in relationships, everything is going to be just fine with you and Debbie,” she assured me.

I smiled, realizing how right she was. No matter how I old I got, nothing ever quelled my doubts quicker than a heart to heart with my mom.

I told her I would wait for in the car while she was in her appointment, but quickly got bored, so I drove down to Fraser’s Pro Home Centre to kill some time.

After checking some stuff out I decided enough time had passed and drove back to pick mom up.

After her appointment she wanted to pick up a few things at Henny Penny’s Farm Market in New Minas and treated me to a bite to eat at McGill’s Restaurant on the way back.

I Felt much better after my day out, so I picked up the phone and gave Debbie a call.

“Hello,” she answered icily.

“Debbie, I’m sorry for what I said, let me make it up to you.”

I know you are,” Debbie said, her voice softening, “I could never stay mad at you anyway.”

“That’s great news, because I want to go on a little vacation, just the two of us.”

“Really? John that sounds wonderful!”
